Melanin Mommy Muse was established to offer tailored support and resources for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) women navigating maternal mental health challenges.
Dr. Tamika Torres, Psy.D. founded Melanin Mommy Muse with the primary goal to cultivate a secure community that promotes awareness of maternal and women’s mental health, personal growth, and empowerment specifically for working mothers. Engaging with the Melanin Mommy Muse community offers the chance to build new connections, participate in annual transformative wellness retreats, creating safe space for creative mothers and address mental health challenges that disproportionately affect BIPOC communities.
Dr. Tamika Torres, in her private practice, specializes in assisting women dealing with various aspects such as birth trauma, infertility, postpartum depression/anxiety, pregnancy loss, parental burnout, coaching, and the process of regaining self-confidence after childbirth.
Dr. Torres embraces a universal concept of motherhood, recognizing diverse gender identities and sexual orientations. She values working with individuals from different cultural backgrounds and identities, extending a warm welcome to LGBTQ+ and nonbinary individuals. Leveraging her experience as a biracial American woman, Dr. Torres brings valuable insights into cross-cultural relationships and emphasizes the importance of nurturing bicultural awareness in the upbringing of children.
